Electronic data interchange (EDI) is the automated exchange of business documents between organisations. Daily business workflows require the exchange of documents like invoices, purchase orders, and shipping forms. At Gould Alloys, we collaborate with customers to find bespoke solutions to their needs, refining the exchange of information, reducing waste, and improving accuracy.

Kanban, a scheduling system for just-in-time manufacturing used worldwide, eliminates manufacturing lead time, leaving only time for delivery. We work closely with our contractual customers to develop specific KANBAN volumes and processes. Material is produced in advance to an agreed quantity and held in a customer-specific storage area. When the customer needs material, a KANBAN call-off is raised, and we ship the materials from the customer-specific storage area. Every time we ship material, we create an internal order to replace it, so we will always have material produced in advance and ready for immediate delivery.

Consignment inventory is a supply chain model in which we agree to place our inventory in your locations for you to use. We will still own the product, and you will only pay for the products when they have been consumed. This allows you to have peace of mind that you will have all the products that you need without processing and delivery lead time and the burden of capital tied up in inventory.

Direct line feed (DLF) is the key to a steady product flow to customers’ production lines (or even specific machines), ensuring that product never runs out. We agree on initial stock levels with customers and replenishment rules based on customer instruction and data. We typically supply goods in bespoke reusable pallets or containers. When the customer’s pallet or container is empty, we will replace it and collect the empty pallets and containers to be refilled back at Gould Alloys.

Gould Alloys has a specialist team to ensure customers’ orders are handled with precision, maintaining safety, sustainability, compliance and punctuality.

Positive Material Identification (PMI) is a fast and non-destructive testing (NDT) method for verifying the chemical composition of metals and alloys. It can be used to confirm the supplied materials conform to the proper standards and specifications. Gould Alloys can provide PMI using a handheld spectrometer. This can be carried out for incoming goods and/or according to specific customer needs and requests.

Heat treatment is a controlled process used to alter the microstructure of metals to impart properties that benefit a component's working life, such as increased surface hardness, temperature resistance, ductility, and strength.

Gould Alloys offers technical support and advice regarding the heat treatment of the metals we supply. With our partners, we can offer heat treatments through approved processes (such as NADCAP and BS EN 9100) including:

• Ageing
• Annealing / normalising
• Hardening
• Precipitation hardening
• Solution treating
• Tempering

All heat treatment operations are strictly controlled to ensure compliance with specifications while maintaining the quality of the product.

Bespoke mechanical testing, including hardness testing, tensile testing, and impact testing.

Including dimensional inspection, ultrasonic, and liquid penetrant testing carried out by independent approved laboratories.

Our qualified in-house manufacturing engineers create high-quality CNC programmes for both low and high-volume part production using the variety of machining facilities we have at our disposal.
