This datasheet provides some information about specifying and inspection authorities.

Specifying Authorities - What are they?:

These are the organizations that set national and international standards.

There are a large number of specifying authorities, typically at least one in every country. However a limited number are of importance to the metals business in the UK and these are listed below.


Inspection Authorities - What are they?:

These are profit making organisations that sell their inspection services. They employ qualified professional inspectors and must be licensed by UKAS
